In May 2018, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) replaced the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC which tightened data privacy laws across Europe, to protect all EU citizens data privacy and monitor the way organisations approach data privacy. Purple Turtle Therapy voluntarily adheres to the Therapy industry code of conduct in addition to GDPR.
Purple Turtle Therapy administers a full consultation for every client attending a treatment whether at our therapy rooms or off site. This information is used to create a bespoke treatment specific to the client’s needs, case notes will be made during/after the treatments for our records. The Confidential Collected Data is only available to the Purple Turtle Team and is not shared outside of our clinics, therefore data is stored as ‘legitimate interest’ data. If our therapists feel it appropriate or at the clients request your treatment information may be shared with an alternative healthcare professional or with someone in the medical service, however full permission will be requested, and the referral agreed with all parties before information is shared.
Your rights as a Purple Turtle Therapy client – If you don’t agree to Purple Turtle Therapy keeping records of information about you and your treatments, the therapist may not be able to treat you. Therapists need to keep these records to adhere to their Industry code of conduct and to treat clients safely and consistently. Purple Turtle Therapy keeps Client Record Cards for 7 years, the client can request access to these record cards in writing to the above address. After this time clients will need to do a full consultation for a treatment. The personal details are kept on the company’s IT system which are confidential and exclusive to the Purple Turtle Therapy team.
On application to Purple Turtle Academy for courses, workshops or training learners will complete a booking form, one for each course applied for. This information contains the learner’s eligibility to attend the course, contraindication, next of kin and personal contact details which is essential for training, therefore data is stored as ‘legitimate interest’ data. As the courses require learners to administer treatments on each other it is necessary to plan for contraindications and adjustments to the treatments in advance of the course. The information retained about learners who attend Purple Turtle Therapy courses is solely for the purpose of Purple Turtle Therapy. If the accrediting Association/learners insurers require additional information the learner will be asked permission before any information is shared. Learners agree to their photo being used for publicity and can opt-out of this at any time by informing Purple Turtle Therapy in writing.

Purple Turtle Therapy keeps learners booking forms for a set period of time depending on the accrediting association guidelines (which may vary) the learner can request access to the booking form in writing to the above address. The personal details are kept on the company’s IT system which are confidential and exclusive to the Purple Turtle Therapy team.
On application, we will need to take some personal details and all our hirers have a full induction and contract. This information is stored securely and all contracts between the hirer and Purple Turtle Therapy are confidential and have a confidentiality clause within the contract.

Our Brighton venue has undergone a further risk assessment for COVID and our safety policies have been extended. We will be closely monitoring the health of our team, and that of our clients, to ensure neither party is put at risk of contracting COVID-19.
The clinic is following guidelines issued by the government, NHS and our professional association, the Federation of Holistic Therapists regarding safe and hygienic practice and the use of any personal protective equipment (PPE).
Booking a treatment
Upon booking a first treatment with us you will be asked to arrange a telephone consultation prior to your visit to ascertain your medical history. Once the consultation has taken place your appointment will be confirmed.
For existing clients, your therapist will update your consultation form at each visit and update your medical information.
Your appointment will be at Purple Turtle Therapy, Old Slipper Baths, Barrack Yard, North Road, Brighton BN1 1YA. We are based on the first floor.
If you need to cancel or change your appointment please allow a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. Appointments can be changed by email or telephone. Please note that appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at the full rate. The exception to this is if you experience any COVID symptoms on the morning of your treatment. If you are please cancel your appointment on the day by 9 am. 24 hours before Attending your Appointment
We want to make your visit as safe and special as we will send you a confirmation. You will also receive a COVID pre-treatment questionnaire with confirmation of the below information. Please read, complete and return within 24 hours of your appointment.
- You have read the Purple Turtle Therapy COVID policy
- Confirmation that you do NOT have any COVID related symptoms. Symptoms may include high temperature, new and persistent cough, change of taste or smell or breathing difficulties.
- Acknowledgement that you have not knowingly come into contact with anyone with the COVID virus.
- Details of travel overseas in the last 14 days.
You will be asked to confirm that you have not been contacted by the NHS track and trace system and told to self-isolate.
Attending your Appointment
Please arrive at your allocated treatment time as we do not have a waiting area at present.
Upon arrival, you will be asked to wash your hands and/or sanitise your hands.
Our therapist will be wearing appropriate PPE and following strict hygiene protocols.
Please allow up to 15 mins on top of your treatment time, starting at your treatment time. This allows for consultation and aftercare advice.
Bring a drink with you, preferably a bottle of water.
Face coverings: You are not required to wear a face covering during your treatment. However, you will be asked to wear one in the treatment room for consultation and around the facilities unless you hold an exemption card. If you forget your face covering, one can be provided for you.
As part of our commitment to public health through our governing associations, we are have registered Purple Turtle Therapy with the Track and Trace App. The code is displayed within the venue as you enter.
